Alice worships at St. Alphege Parish Church, Solihull. She was previously a pupil at St. Alphege C of E Infant and Junior Schools. She is in a lively church youth group and is actively involved with Prayer Group, Club One, 'the space' and as a leader of one of the ‘Growth Groups.’
In the church services there are many different styles of worship. Alice sings in the traditional girls’ choir and also plays the cello and sings in a music group playing contemporary worship songs. She feels very privileged to be able to contribute to the worship in this way.
One of her most moving experiences was singing an unaccompanied solo of ‘My Song is Love Unknown’ in the Solihull shopping centre during the Good Friday ‘Walk of Witness’.
The all girls’ choir at St. Alphege Church was set up in 2002 alongside the well established boys’ and men’s choir. St. Alphege Choir has had a boy finalist in the BBC Young Chorister of the Year competition several times over the past thirty years, but Alice is the first girl from St. Alphege to reach the final and the first winner from the church. The children in the St. Alphege Choirs receive a first-class free training through the musical, social and intellectual challenges they encounter.
