Alice Halstead : Soprano

Biography

Alice Halstead is the featured soloist on John Rutter's latest recording of his Requiem, including the sublime Pie Jesu, played regularly on Classic FM.

 

Alice has sung with many choirs and choral groups, including the Cambridge Singers, the Britten Sinfonia Chorus and the Carice Singers.

 

In 2016/7 Alice was a Choral Scholar at St Martin-in-the-Fields in Trafalgar Square, London.

 

From 2012 to 2016 Alice sang throughout the UK, across Europe and on several tours to America with the Choir of Clare College Cambridge under Graham Ross. In addition to singing three times a week in the college chapel, there was a very busy schedule of recording, broadcasting, and performing. Alice has sung soprano solos across a wide range of the choral repertoire.

 

Between 2009 and 2011 she sang with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain.

 

Alice attended King Edward VI High School, Birmingham, and was a founder member of the Girls’ Choir at St Alphege Church, Solihull.  In 2008 Alice won the BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year competition.  During that year Alice made several appearances on BBC One TV Songs of Praise, featured in many national radio broadcasts and on Karl Jenkins' Christmas CD Stella Natalis.

 

From the age of four she attended the Birmingham Junior Conservatoire where she studied singing, cello and piano.

 

Alice was brought up in Solihull, near Birmingham, England.
